For feedback to be valued, it needs to be specific, balanced and lead to a learning action plan for the student/trainee. This workshop will explore the role of feedback in clinical training and assessment. We will have an opportunity to consider the characteristics of effective feedback, and where feedback fits in your overall clinical, workplace training strategy. We will also look at some of the tools available for giving feedback and for assisting students to receive that feedback. Lastly, we will consider how to help your student attend to the feedback that you have given.
Julia Blitz has had a long career in both Family Medicine and Health Professions Education. While she is now “retired”, she is still involved in offering educational opportunities. A particular interest of hers is the equipping of clinicians to assist undergraduate students and postgraduate Family Medicine trainees/registrars to learn in the workplace.
