This workshop explores practical ways to generate locally relevant evidence to support advocacy for family medicine in Sub-Saharan Africa. Participants will engage with accessible research methods and identify opportunities within their own contexts to create evidence that informs policy and strengthens primary care.

Klaus B von Pressentin is Associate Professor and Head of the Division of Family Medicine at the University of Cape Town. He is a primary care researcher and educator with interests in strengthening health systems, health professions education, and evidence-informed advocacy. He also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the South African Family Practice Journal and chairs the Research Committee of the South African Academy of Family Physicians. He performed his PhD on evaluating the impact of family physicians in South Africa.
