In this workshop participants will discuss the different contexts of a mentoring relationship and then explore the mentoring relationship. We will discuss a framework for the structure and process of mentoring sessions and then practice useful methods and tools in the mentoring process.
Hoffie Conradie is an Emeritus Associate Professor in Family Medicine living in a small coastal town, Kleinmond, in the Western Cape, South Africa. He was instrumental in establishing the Rural Clinical School at Stellenbosch University and is currently supporting the training programmes in Zimbabwe via PRIMAFAMED. He is still involved in clinical medicine one day a week at the local government clinic. He is a certified life coach with a coaching practice mainly for healthcare workers. He is coordinating the mentoring program of the Next-5 initiative for newly qualified family physicians in the South African Academy of Family Physicians. He also coordinates a mentoring program for undergraduate medical students at Stellenbosch University.
