PRIMAFAMED is a founding member of a new Primary Health Care Research Consortium that seeks to address priority research questions. As part of the establishment of this consortium in 2019, PRIMAFAMED completed three scoping reviews:

Current collaborative research projects

  • Primary Care Assessment Tool: a project across 11 countries to evaluate the core functions of primary care. Funded by the NIHR and coordinated by the University of Cape Town.  Home – Primary Care Assessment Tool
  • Climate change and Primary Health Care: a project to evaluate climate resilience and environmental sustainability across 4 countries. Funded by MRF and coordinated by Stellenbosch University, South Africa and Keele University, UK.
  • AfriWon Research Collaborative: a project to help novice family medicine researchers develop research proposals though online training and e-mentoring. Funded by NORHED via the PRICE project. {Ask Pius if there is a link to a website}
  • Developing leadership in primary health care: a project in Zambia and Malawi to develop training and research in the field of primary health care in collaboration with the University of Bergen, Norway and funded by NORHED.
  • Improving rational prescribing: a project across 4 countries. Funded by VLIR and coordinated by Stellenbosch University.

Meetings of the network usually include workshops on scientific writing, grant writing or peer reviewing as well as opportunities for developing collaborative research projects.
